Hallowin

By Shannon O'Dell / Posted on 08 October 2009

hallowin finalThere is one time a year that most doors are receptive to visitors all over America…that’s right HALLOWEEN!  The trick or treat gig opens doors everywhere bearing gifts.  I am not certain, but this may be the greatest day to get God’s message in more homes than any other.  Here is what we do at BNC.  We start our October 31st evening with a costume contest for all ages and people from everywhere show up for the fun!  After prizes are awarded we send out hundreds with DVD’s about our church, a clear presentation of the gospel, message for families and a Christmas Eve service invitation…YES Christmas Eve.  Kids say “trick or treat” get candy, then hand the DVD to the home owner.  It is effective and exciting!

Hallowin in a nutshell:

1) Sell the costume contest for three weeks.

2) Encourage families to bring cars full of candy.

3) Prepare a DVD that is full of vision (approx. .40 cents each) and The Gospel!

4) Strategically place families in geographic regions, in addition to their neighborhood in your town or city.

5) Pray for each DVD to be received with God’s anointing and power. (Who can say no to a cute kid in a cute costume?)

6) Pray that each video will be viewed!

Don’t jump on the legalism bandwagon of boycotting Halloween, get with the unchurched culture and share God’s Good News..Jesus Christ crucified.  Here is a video of us kicking it at Hallowin here at BNC.  Follow #hallowin on Twitter!
