#1 Trying to make something more complicated to make you sound more educated.

#2 Saying your are going to do something and you do not complete it.

#3 Quitting!

#4 Saying, “God is leading” when it is evident God is not the Leader.

#5 Someone rushing on the elevator before letting those on, off.

#6 Laziness…then blame, then laziness, then more blame, then  more laziness.

#7 People who are not teachable.

#8 One-Uppers…they always have a better story than the one you just shared.

#9 So called “pastors/leaders” who serve as ANCHORS instead of ENGINES!

#10 People wanting to give their input…with no contribution.

#11 Hearing people say where they would rather be, than where they are…that is called “position positioning”.  Jesus said, serve!

#12 People who are cheap and don’t TIP well!!!

#13 Negativity!!!

This list could continue…

  1. Shannon says:

Parents who want to be their kids friends instead of their parent.

  2. Derek Simpkins says:

I think my biggest pet peeves are

    1) When people make a ton of noise with their mouth but aren’t doing anything constructive – i.e. food smacking, ice crunching, etc.

    2) When people refuse to show consideration for those that HAVE to be around them

    3) People that whine and cry about a situation but do nothing to make it any better.

    4) People that let their own close-mindedness ruin every attempt someone takes at teaching/helping/leading them.

    5) When people are too proud to let someone help them, and end up hurting or hindering themselves

    6) When people refuse to move forward, fearing that they might actually overcome a harship that has become all too familiar and comfortable

    7) When someone gripes the whole time you are doing something nice for them

    8) People who are only nice to you at church, but don’t even know you in Wal Mart.

    9) When people look every direction but up when they need something

    10) People that won’t relax and enjoy some of the finer things in life (a cool breeze, a good joke, or a lazy Saturday)

    • I thought of a few more throughout the day –

      11) People that make a dishonest living by omitting information, cheating the system, or being manipulative in order to get something for nothing.

      12) People who throw a fit when their food doesn’t taste like it was sent down straight from Heaven, or if something on the order was wrong – and I’ve got to give some advice on this one – STOP FREAKING OUT, PEOPLE! You’re causing people to hate you when you do this, and there’s a great chance that the undercooked steak you just flipped on the waitress about, is coming back overcooked, and with saliva on it.

      13) When people form opinions strictly based on what “the son of a lady that my mom’s friend works with” said. Anything worth having an opinion about is worth while to investigate.

      14) When people make a horrible decision/commitment against the majority’s better judgment, and then blame others for their mistake.

      15) Remembering more of my pet peeves after I’ve already submitted my comment. :)

  3. Scott says:

My biggest pet peeve is people who act as if what they are doing is in your best interest when they really don’t believe in you.

  4. Lisa Brightwell says:

    1) A mom or dad who is on their blackberry while their child or spouse is trying to talk to them and they are hearing NOTHING! We are becoming a post-human race.

    2) Those who talk really loud on their cell phone.

    3) People who make fun of other people.

    4) Hearing kids use bad language and are not ashamed of it. They don’t care who hears.

    5) Being rude and vulgar.

  5. Tori says:

1.Watching parents give in to what the “world” says will make or break their child’s self image.

2.”Things” not having a place to call home.

    3. Disrepect, at every level

    4. People who consider themselves better than others

    5. A person who doesn’t clean up after him/herself

    6. Excuses…just tell the truth!

    7. People who feel the need to put others down…for whatever the reason

    8. Parents who think that their child’s teacher is always at fault and never their child.

    9. Those who have to be first to do anything & everything

    10.Gossip

Note: These are in no particular order.

    • Faye says:

Tori, are you a clone of me? Seriously, I’m right there with you on so many of these, especially #6 and #3 and #7 … see what I mean?

  6. Leslie Moon says:

    This like group therapy!

    1. WHINING!! I hate when my kids or anyone else for that matter whines.

    2. Not taking responsibility for your own actions

    3. People in leadership positions when they shouldn’t be

  7. Cindy O'Dell says:

When your kids eat the last Little Debbie and leave the empty box in the cabinet!

  8. Tori says:

When “things” don’t have a “home.”

  9. Faye says:

I think mine have all already been hit upon.

    1. Anyone showing disrespect to others or possessions of others (including the church buildings).

    2. Parents getting irate if someone corrects their child’s disrespect.

    3. Parents trying to be their child’s friend when the child OBVIOUSLY needs a parent.

    4. Agreeing to do something then either leaving it undone or getting someone else to do it in the name of “doing it to support the church”

    5. Lies or untruths of any kind.

    6. Laziness in all it’s iterations. A cozy day laid back by the river is not what I mean. I mean those who want someone else to take care of them or their things to be done.

    7. Church leaders who know there’s a problem, but refuse to confront and deal with that problem, instead letting it go on and on.

    8. People who demand more service than those around them, then refuse to pay for it.

    9. Those who talk in a normal or loud voice, no matter where they are: in a theater during a movie, in a church service, during the invocation at an event, in a class…

And of course, I’m practically perfect in every way, so I don’t do ANY of the things on ANY of these lists.

  10. hdkizer says:

    1. Piling dishes in both sides of the sink instead of washing them or just sticking them in the dishwasher. One side is bad enough but both sides is really a pet peeve!LOL!
    2. When you are talking to someone and they are only thinking about what they want to say instead of listening to you.
    3. When someone thinks his/her time is way more important than everyone elses.

  11. Ben says:

    1) stupid people

  12. Katie says:

    1) Energy Leachers – They want to tell you all their problems and issues but when the subject changes to your issues they are ready to bow out of the conversation.

    2) Noisy eaters

    3) Teenagers being immature at the fast food counter.

    4) Watching others enjoy an inside joke but not ever being filled in. Makes you think of how you talk as a Christian and how that can exclude people. Talking about our faith should not be like an inside joke to others not filled in!

  13. Tami says:

    1. My motives for doing something being judged before asking me.

    2. Saying you “know” me when you really don’t.

    3. Treating me as though I have nothing of real value to contribute w/o knowing what I am really capable of doing or what I have been doing.

    4. Saying “I have a place here” but only being willing to give me “busy work”.

  14. Lauren Neuner says:

Hmmm, have a lot of what y’all guys said so it’s hard to come up with original ones. But here goes:
These are from Pat and me:
    1-Prideful people
    2-Procrastinating people
3-Parents of children(and pets!)who allow their kids to run amuck and scream (or bark) in public places
    4-no call no shows
    5-Name droppers
    6-Social climbing-can go along with number 5!
7-busybodies-trying to get the “untold story”-people who can outdo the National Enquirer.
8-people who use generic, canned, or unbelievable excuses
9-those limp, lightly patting on the back fake hugs-like you’re afraid to break them or something
10-leaving a half ounce of iced tea or coffee in the container without making a new pot.
12-pot stirrers-people who are not happy unless turmoil or drama is happening
13-people who walk with black clouds over their heads-sucking the energy out of you
14-people who don’t return my calls
    15-people who are habitually late

  15. Brandon Myers says:

I’m gonna borrow some already posted and in some cases put a new twist on them. Then add a few…

    1. People w/ too many items in the 20 items or less line.
    2. People who are blessed w/ a special gift but ignore it to do something they are interested in but are no good at.
    3. A person that brings nothing to the table.
    4. Negative energy.
    5. Old dogs that won’t learn new tricks.
    6. Picking up the ramen noodle crumbs/wrapper off the kitchen counter and floor.
    7. People who don’t listen during a debate/conversation, but instead are thinking to what they are going to say next.
    8. Coaches who run the smoke draw on 3rd down.
    9. The triple or quadriple urchin. That’s when you are following 3 or 4 games on TV and they are all at commercial.
    10. Kids who don’t answer their cell phone when you call them. Especially when you are the one paying the bill.

  16. Fritzi M says:

AMEN! Wow! My son says about people…”Big talk, little walk!” Talk is so cheap…it is time the people of God stop the talking and get to work!

also one more peeve of mine is…when someone pulls right out in front of you causing you to SLAM on your brakes! Looking in your rear view mirror there is no one behind you. Could they have not waited another 20 or so seconds.
