So many times I have set vision goals outwardly for our fellowship, but not inwardly. God has showed me that this fall we must set our vision for internal change and not just external evidence. Yes numbers, baptisms, financial budgeting are very important, but Brand New Church needed more. The church is desperate to make a difference, not just attend a service (which is an oxymoron, because you cannot “attend” a “service”…you serve at a service). People want to know they are significant in making an eternal impact. So God slapped me in the face and said here is what I want BNC goals to be:
1) Be HOLY!
1 Peter 1:15-16 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Holiness is not a state you have achieved due to salvation, it is a daily goal and challenge lived out in submission to God’s Mission. Purity, passion, and purpose found in Jesus Christ, lived out in every minute of our lives.
2) Be HEALTHY!
Holiness is achieved by taking the steps necessary to stay healthy. You and I must stay spiritually fit, so that we might demonstrate holiness in our lives. Spiritual disciplines like, digesting the Word of God, communicating in prayer to our King and sharing the saving Message of Jesus Christ. These are just a few of the things that will assist you in staying spiritually healthy. You can desire physical health and fitness, but it doesn’t happen unless you diet and exercise. You can desire holiness, but it doesn’t happen unless we do the things necessary to keep holiness in focus. Righteousness is attained through the redemptive work of Christ, holiness is achieved through obedience which equals health.
3) HIGH SPIRITS!
God’s church should be a high spirited body, full of energy and hope. Mark 9:15 “As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.” When Jesus has anointed His Church and His people are walking in obedience the world will see Jesus! They will become overwhelmed with wonder and run to meet him!! Energy, Enivronments and Excellence will assist in a High Spirited fellowship. This does not cost money and can be the largest contributing factor to your churches growth.
Let me know what you think about this vision and how you are going to add value to your church this fall. Thank you for participating here at Breaking All The Rurals!
