Exodus 18:21 “But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.”

If I was standing there that day which assignment would receive. What qualified a man for thousands? What qualified a man for tens? These are the qualifications I believe are imperative leading thousands:
1) Passion and Drive
2) Red Hot Marriage ( with Christ and wife )
3) Teachability
4) Loyalty
5) Obedient Children
If these qualities are found in a leader you will find a world changer. In six years as pastor I have found that ministry positions breed laziness. That is why we stopped focusing on “ministry” and are all about MISSION.
Based on these qualities which one are you lacking? What would you add? Let’s discuss it!

Deann says,
I can honestly say, Obedient Children, I am lacking, I know there is a time when children are finally left to God’s hands, but when there is a Rebellious child, and All I feel I can do is nurture, teach(when he’s open), & pray, what else does God require? All the other areas I enjoy growing in.Being in Manthano, well, I am excited about becoming a learned disciple, I don’t ever want to stop in my learning!

Skipper says,
Here are my weaknesses:
Red Hot Marriage….we’re kinda hot…it’s still roller coaster-y more than I like. More hot than not, though!
Teachability…I’m pretty smart! Ha ha ha. But, seriously folks, sometimes I find myself on guard when someone is trying to teach me…especially when it’s PERSONAL.
Loyalty…I am motivated for like 4 seconds, then I get dissappointed and try to find something else to keep my attentions…when I really should find that time of ‘restlessness” as a time of ‘gird up your loins’ and get to work.
Obedient Children…others say they are, but I see their little spirits. grrrr.
You know I see a trend…I’m stinkin’ inconsistent across the board. yuck.
thanx a lot. ha ha

Erica says,
passion and drive- I don’t have alot of drive. I think that I am passionate about things but my follow thru is terrible. I don’t have much drive at all, I have great ideas that I expect others to get rolling and see thru bc I like to say that I don’t have time..Lame excuse for not growing God’s kingdom outside my home. Next, I would say loyalty. The only thing that I have ever committed a 100% to and stuck by is my marriage and my children. When it comes to being loyal to anything else, again.. I don’t follow thru very often. I want to be someone who is loyal to her word and dependable but it just seem hard to balance it all, I have stopped comitting to anything anymore because I don’t want to fail here again or let anyone down. It is definately a desire of mine, though. I feel great about the others but there is always room to get better in those areas too, I think.

Jessica says,
I would have to say I have room to improve in all those areas. Personally I believe if you think you don’t have room to improve, you need to re-evaluate…no one but Jesus is perfect no matter how hard you try! My major problem is focus. I want to participate in EVERYTHING & end up spreading myself too thin…then I am not effective in anything.
Specifically I’d have to say:
1. I am passionate, but could work on drive.
2. I have a red hot marriage with my husband, but could work on the closeness of my relationship with Christ.
3. I am very teachable, but I agree w/ Skipper…I become a little defensive when it turns personal.
4. I consider myself to be loyal, and think others see me that way as well. (Past choices could be seen as not loyal, but I am forgiven and new.)
5. For the most part, I have obedient children. There are issues with each child, but most are consequences of divorce and we deal with it.
So, to sum up…I need improvement & am working hard to be where God wants me to be!

Carrie Martin says,
I have the passion and the drive almost to the degree that people question why I am so devoted instead of on the fence as some christians are.
Not married; kids are grown so obedient ended when they became car drivers; teachable yes and an avid reader, loyal to those I know and to the Lord above all.
But, I am a woman.
