Jesus said, “It is finished” and then the Father demonstrated His power! I wonder why I rarely, if ever, heard anyone preach this display of God’s overwhelming evidence of declared Deity. There are three events that took place after Jesus took his last breath and gave up His Spirit.
Here they are:
Matthew 27:51-53
#1 “At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”
This was no wedding veil. Most scholars teach that the veil was 30 feet high, 60 feet wide, 4 inches thick, and weighed over 4 tons. Jesus told the world that the separation between God and men was removed through His sacrifice.
#2 “The earth shook (earthquake) and the rocks split.”
I don’t know how large the seismic activity was, but rocks were splitting and so many still didn’t get it.
#3 “The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”
Ok, now this is it for me. Wow!! Someone’s grandmother came back to the dinner table, a boss came back to work, a lady’s husband got back in bed with her that night…Oh my!
I do not want to be guilty this week of missing all that God wants for me this Holy Week. The church hid the miraculous, but how? I heard this week, if you want to experience the miraculous, you must be willing to be ridiculous. Faith filled, and passion-potent persons willing to do whatever it takes to see God’s hand at work.
Again, how did they miss it??? Let’s don’t miss it!

I don’t know, but I am preaching it to anyone who will listen! My prayer is that we, God’s Church, will come to life this Easter!

I have a question. In the newspaper article it said you removed the pews. Does that mean your congregation stands, or did you replace them with theater seats?
Thank you.
