Mondayish Thoughts

By Shannon O'Dell / Posted on 26 July 2010

collagepadmon#1 INNERtainment was the first summer series we built moment on in my 7 years of pastoring. Already planning 2011!
#2 My wife leaving me for 14 days was a bad idea…I can clean house, do dishes, but I can’t create, focus or feel energized without her around! I love my Cindy.
#3 Bringing on 17 Full Time Volunteer Staff has changed our church and created huge ministry!
#4 My 20th year of ministry has been the most fulfilling and challenging.
#5 I feel so arrogant when people ask me to sign a book for them…asking God to help me with this, because I love selling books.
#6 Exposing sin in my life is liberating. Thank you God for your forgiveness.
#7 Worshipped on iCampus during our 5pm service with a man from Switzerland…still amazed by this Campus and it’s effectiveness.
#8 Praying through a radical service idea for last week of IMAGINE series…pray with me.
#9 Anna and I are talking through college options…love watching her grow.
#10 Recording my message for “The Nines” conference this week…so humbled to be apart.
#11 Getting ready to read David Jeremiah’s new book “What in the World is Going On”
#12 Studying the mind in preparation for the IMAGINE series has been eye opening.
#13 Praying for more churches to join our Network Platform assisting churches with teaching and leadership…(if interested comment below)
#14 Hillsongs new album is tremendous. I love the song “Love Like Fire”
#15 I am ready for football season and Kansas bowhunting!
#16 Grateful to all my pastor friends who are making such a huge difference in my life!

We went to SDC after BNC yesterday, with hopes to help someone in need. We were blessed with the opportunity to drive a family to Rogers, AR, @ 11:45pm due to their car keys being lost at the park. What an amazing, wonderful time to witness and get to know them! They even asked if we were angels!:) They were very thankful-filled our gas tank 2x, and gave us some money for our time, which we tried to explain was NOT necessary! WOW!!! What an opportunity we were blessed with, even with not getting home until 4am!! Our God is AWESOME!!! I’m still smiling at the answered prayer of the chance to put someone else first!!

Great list! Thanks for giving us a glimpse into what was on your mind today. My favorites … #2 (Yay Cindy and marriage!), #5, #6, and #8. Love that you want to do something radical – but not at all surprised. Reminds me of the lines in your book, “we are called to make it good and make it sharp. There’s no excuse for a presentation that is dull and dry.” God will make it clear and I have every confidence He will do something radical.

This Monday I am struggling with my thoughts in many ways. Lots on my mind, having troubles getting thoughts in place and what to do with them. My daughter has decided to tell her dad and step-mom that she no longer wants to be Mormon, this was a HUGE step for her and I am just waiting to see what the backlash will be. Praying for none. Work is really bad right now. I am trying to have the thought that I am working for God and that what I put out (positive/negative) I will get back. Financially still struggling. Trying to go back to your message that was done on finances and put it all in God’s hands. I want my husband and I to make it to Romance this year AND be able to take our kids to Disneyland in October. Thought about entering into Graduate school has been weighing heavy, praying I made the right decision. ON a good note, last year at Romance my husband and I started reading the Bible every night at least 1 chapter (more if we can), and we are now in Proverbs! Just need to give it all to God….again….I have a tendency of taking it all back. I need to change that!
