CB026168Proverbs 22:6 “Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
The key word in this verse is not not train, but GO! Our goal as parents must be to make disciples, that will be sent out to impact a lost and hurting world. I have put in bullet form three reminders for us as parents and influencers of children.

Training will take place daily – positive or negative
Proverbs teaches what you need to know:
1)To have a fear of God – 1:7, 9:10, 10:27, 14:26-27, 15:16, 16:6, 19:23
2)To guard their minds – 4:23, 23:7
3)To obey you – 1:8, 4:1-4, 6:20-23, 30:17
4)To select their friends wisely – 1:11-18, 2:10-15, 13:20
5)To control their sinful desires – 2:16-19, 5:3-5, 6:23-33, 7:6-27
6)To live morally pure – 5:15-20
7)To watch their words – 4:24, 10:11, 19-21, 32, 12:18, 22, 15:1-2, 7, 16:23, 20:15
8)To work hard – 6;6-11 10:4-5, 22:29
9)To manage their money – 3:9-10, 11:24-26, 19:17, 22:9
10)To love their neighbors – 3:27-29. 25:21-22

Taunting is not teaching – Eph. 6:4 “Don’t exasperate your kids.” (provoke)
#1 – Smother them. Never giving them a chance to take chances.
#2 – Favoritism. Favoring one kid over the other.
#3 – Comparing your kids with one another.
#4 – Pushing their achievement beyond reasonable bounds.
#5 – Discouraging them.
#6 – Failing to make the child feel wanted. Always treating them like they are intruding on your life.
#7 – Using love as a tool for reward and punishment.
#8 – Failing to let them grow up in a normal life.
#9 – Physical and verbal abuse.
#10 – Teasing and taunting them.

Trails are followed – “The righteous man leads a blameless life-blessed are his children after him.” Prov. 20:7
What path will you children follow, because they will follow. Parents desire maturity for your life as you desire you children to mature and grow.
