Worship Thoughts

By Shannon O'Dell / Posted on 17 November 2010

Here are just a few thoughts before planning your next worship experience:

#1 The Senior Pastor is the Lead Worshipper in your Church.
#2 You need…a) Planner b) Performer c) Passioner…not a real word d) Player…executes it top to bottom
#3 Your proximity to God personally will be the proximity the church will go corporately.
#4 Bring elements to your Senior Pastor, not just songs.
#5 Your staff, and church leaders, MUST be on the front row celebrating and cheering on worship.
#6 Model worship, don’t just lead it.
#7 Fragmented worship gets fragmented results…PRACTICE TRANSITIONS.
#8 Don’t let the same team lead every week.
#9 When pride walks on the stage, God walks off.
#10 Your greatest worship leader, and team member, is already bringing it in the audience.

Give me your thoughts on worship…COMMENT BELOW!

Right on track! Great reminder that the pastor is the ultimate tone setter when it comes to worship and in relationships to God. I really needed the 4 needs, planner, performer, passioneer, and player. Good stuff…real stuff.

Absolutely correct and true. Thanks for sharing #9 – “When pride walks on the stage, God walks off.”

Also, clean transitions need to be natural. I must admit that one of the hardest things for me is 1) staying mindful of God when in the middle of worship and 2) not being mindful of what happens next. Both are essential. Without #1 it’s just noise; without #2 it’s disjointed.

Great Word. I agree with every bit of it. So, how do you overcome #1 and #4 not happening? #1: Our Senior Pastor walks around shaking hands during worship…actually distracting the one he is talking to and those around them. In addition, everyone on stage watches as he walks around. #4: Our staff is usually out doing other duties at that time….How do you combat all this?

Love this! number 3 is so true, transparency will translate far past performance.
