Power in preaching results in changed lives. Preaching without God’s power, numbs lives. We know that it comes, first and foremost, from personal devotion and prayer. I also know we can approach the “pulpit” with powerless presentations. Exceptional blessing, favor, and power in our teaching is given when we about these things:
#1 Praying over your wife.
Ephesians 5:25 “wash her with the word.” If you lead in your house, you bring power in God’s House.
#2 Preparing in advance.
The more time you have to meditate, the greater you will create. This also allows you to pray over the content longer.
#3 Atmosphere.
Pray over the room and set the environment to enhance your teaching.
#4 Anointing.
Beg God for greater anointing…ask for it, cry for it, shout out your request to receive it.
1 John 2:27 “the anointing that you received from him abides in you.”
#5 Let God’s Word be primary.
I know you understand this, but it is easy to feel more comfortable with your style than with God’s Word.
#6 Good Rest and Diet.
Your emotions and physical being can affect your delivery.
#7 Proclaiming Jesus is not enough.
Many times we proclaim He is the answer, but do not apply the answer in our lives.
Let this power reside in you to preach with power and watch God change lives.

Derek Simpkins says,
Something that has been resonating in my spirit is what you taught yesterday about just because you don’t feel God’s presence doesn’t mean He’s not with you – so many times/days I just wake up feeling like God is nowhere in reach and won’t hear me…. but the best thing I could add to the list would be to do what you’ve been called to do regardless of whether you’re presently hearing the call – that may be, and probably is, what God’s waiting on before He lets you feel His presence.

Dwayne Gobin says,
This is something that I need to be reminded of several times a week. This is something that needs to be taught on multiple times. I still have trouble at times on preparing the sermon like it should be done or have not spent enough time on getting the sermon prepared; however, I have seen where God would come in where I would least expect Him to, and He would just bring the rest of the message home.
Thanks for the reminder Pastor!
