Breaking All the Rurals

Every area in our church has been infected with leadership vision that will be contracted and carried by its congregants. It could be guilt, manipulation, negativity, turf-protecting, boredom, zombieness, and visionless. Our church is producing these “germs” every weekend. I believe these items should be excellent simply because they are the most contagious:

#1 Energy
From the parking lot to their seat, attendees need to absorb the energy flowing from the volunteers. Your lobby must also carry this energy and excitement. This cannot be manufactured week in and week out; it must be carried by your lead as an extension of the pastor.
#2 S-S-S
Sight, Sound and Smell. Great aesthetics, balanced sound and intoxicating aromas are contagious. The five senses are working when they arrive – so pleasure them.
#3 Children’s Area
Your kid’s area is contagious to the parent and the child. Make it impossible for them not to get the bug. Clean rooms, smiling leaders and child friendly environments.
#4 Lighting
You can feel like your are in the doctors office, or create an atmosphere of warmth, and anticipation. God said, “Let there be light” and was serious about the creativity of its output. We should learn from His example.
#5 Restrooms
A bathroom says more about the church’s vision than possibly any room. Clean and creative should be the motto. Run video announcements, urinal adds, rocks in the sink, paper dispensers full, and “not cheap” TP are just a few ideas.
#6 Community
Increase the size of your lobby space. Have a spacious communal point in your facility and pass the disease of community.
#7 Excellent Printed Material
It costs very little to print something excellently. If it’s printed well I will read it, and might attend.
#8 Opportunity
Everyone wants to make a difference, so provide those opportunities. Clothing, food, and shoe drives are just a few easy starting points.
#9 Leaders
Your staff must be leaders carrying the Pastor’s vision and passion. If we as Pastors do not have a contagious vision and passion, the church will not have one.
#10 The Word
Preaching of the Word of God with authority and creativity is what will keep them attached and carriers of the contagious spirit that leads the lost to Christ.
